We are reaching out to our families today with a vital reminder about online safety. In light of a recent, deeply concerning incident in our community where an adult targeted a teenager through the gaming platform Roblox, our partners at Crimestoppers Safe Schools Louisiana have provided some helpful tools to protect our students in the digital spaces where they live, learn and play.
Keeping kids safe online starts with open conversations about digital safety, responsible online behavior, and the importance of reporting concerning interactions. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to:
💡 Talk openly with your child about their online activity, including the games and platforms they use.
💡 Remind them never to engage with or respond to inappropriate messages and to report concerning behavior immediately.
💡 Reinforce that they should tell a trusted adult if anyone online says something that makes them feel uncomfortable, scared, or pressured.
💡 Monitor privacy settings and parental controls on devices and gaming platforms.
If a student is in immediate danger, please contact local law enforcement right away. For non-emergency concerns, students can anonymously report safety issues through the Safe Schools Louisiana app or reporting system, which is available on our district website: https://www.mylpsd.com/page/crime-stoppersanonymous-reporting-sites
Let's work together to keep our students safe both online and offline.

This week, the Lafourche Parish School District joins the nation in celebrating School Social Work Week. Our school social workers play a vital role in supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being through compassionate guidance, collaboration with families and staff, and a strong commitment to helping every student succeed.
The 2026 theme, “Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact,” reflects the positive difference our social workers make by bringing students, families, and educators together to create a caring and inclusive school environment. Their role is multi-faceted, focused on supporting the "whole child," connecting families to community resources, serving as key members of multidisciplinary school teams, and advocating for equitable practices that promote student success.
Throughout the academic year, school social workers navigate complex challenges and rising student needs with resilience and compassion. We are incredibly proud to celebrate and thank our dynamic team of social workers for the incredible support they provide to our school community.
If you would like to join this passionate and dedicated team of social workers, click here to apply: https://lafourche.schoolspring.com/
