Congratulations to our 1st Nine Weeks Attendance Leaders!
Showing up every day is the first step toward student success. In Lafourche Parish, our district goal is an Average Daily Attendance (ADA) rate of 95% or higher, and at the end of the first marking period, these schools led the way among their peers:
🌟 Elementary – Chackbay Elementary
🌟 Middle School – Sixth Ward Middle School
🌟 High School – Central Lafourche High School

🚌 Ready to get behind the wheel? We're looking for reliable, responsible drivers to join our team.
LPSD is conducting a pre-service class for anyone interested in becoming a certified contract or substitute bus driver. Training is free for district employees. Registration for non-district employees is $100 (reimbursable after 90 days of employment with LPSD.)
📅 Nov. 9-12 and Nov. 14-17, 2026
📍 LPSD Transportation Center - Next door to the Career Magnet Center (6419 LA 308, Lockport)
🕔 5 - 9 p.m.

This week, Lafourche Parish School District joins communities around the country in observing National School Bus Safety Week. Ensuring student safety both on and around the bus is everyone's responsibility and requires a commitment from every member of our community.
For students, that means staying seated, keeping aisles clear, listening to the driver, and using caution when boarding and exiting to help ensure a safe ride for everyone.
For motorists, please remember to stay alert, avoid distractions, slow down in school zones, and ALWAYS stop when yellow and red school bus lights and stop-arms are activated. Obeying school bus laws saves lives!
And a huge shout out to our hard-working LPSD bus drivers, monitors and transportation staff. Thank you for all you do to keep our students safe every single day.

Her exceptional leadership and commitment to educational excellence continue to make a lasting impact on our community, and we are so thankful she is part of our team.
Additionally, Lafourche Parish was named a Louisiana Numeracy Leader following our exceptional math performance on the 2025-2026 LEAP. This honor reflects the tireless dedication of our educators, support staff and school leaders and the incredible work ethic of our students who continue to position Lafourche as a statewide leader in math performance and growth.
