Graphic titled "Spotlight On" featuring a headshot of Brandy Matherne, Career Technical Education Coordinator at Central Office/CMC for Lafourche Schools. Left Column Details: Hometown: Lockport Education: Central Lafourche High School, Nicholls State University Years with LPSD: 22.5 Right Column Q&A: What are your interests/hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my husband and three daughters, especially playing games or cards and vacationing together. Additionally, I enjoy coaching volleyball, fishing, watching all sports, and volunteering at church. What is a fun or unusual fact about you that most people don’t know? I am a vinyl record collector and love hunting down albums by the artists I grew up with. What inspired you to choose a career in education? I love working with students and wanted to make a difference in my community. After teaching for a number of years, I wanted to help students beyond the classroom, so I chose to become a Professional School Counselor. What is the most rewarding part of your job? Currently, as the CTE Coordinator, the most rewarding part of my job is being able to bridge the gap between education and the workforce. Watching students realize they can master hands-on, highly demanded trades just makes my heart happy. What advice would you give to someone just starting a career with LPSD? LPSD has afforded me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally by providing avenues for advancement, support at the school and district level, mentors that fostered growth, and development to improve my skills throughout my career... It is a blessing to work with individuals that feel like family. What is your professional motto? "Lead with a kind heart, always."
