2023 - 2024 School Year Pre-K Registration

Pre-K Registration for the 2023-2024 School year will be done at the
Lafourche Parish School Board Media Center 1411 Crescent Ave.  Lockport, LA.  
8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Beginning January 9, 2023 - May 25, 2023



The following documents are required for registration:
Child's Birth Certificate
Child's Immunization Record
Child's Social Security Card
Proof of Residence/Address (Current Utility Bills from 2 different companies)
Proof of Family Household Income

2022 - 2023 Lafourche Early Childhood Network Coordinated Funding Request

As stated by Bulletin 140, The Lafourche Early Childhood Network is required to reach out and obtain any public input regarding our 2020 - 2021 Coordinated Funding Request. In this request, we submit the number of LA4 slots we project to fill in the upcoming school year. Please see the attached coordinated Funding Request Guide and Response form below. If you have any suggestions, questions or comments, please fill out the Response for below and return it via email to [email protected] or regular mail by November 30, 2019. Pre-Kindergarten Philosophy

The Lafourche Parish Public School System Pre-Kindergarten Program is based on the underlying belief that young children learn through age appropriate play. Through this age appropriate play, children develop language, math, science, social, art and technology skills. The Pre-Kindergarten Program supports a safe classroom environment where students can develop trust in adults. The program recognizes that each child is unique and learns and develops in his/her own way. You can find more information regarding the Pre-K Program in the resources files.

Lafourche Early Childhood Blueprint

Title I - Pre-Kindergarten Programs

The Title 1, 8(g), and LA4 Pre-Kindergarten Programs are designed to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children. The programs are designed to develop each child's physical, social, emotionally and intellectual abilities. Special Education students are included in the regular Pre-K classrooms.

ACTIVITIES

Children will participate in activities such as:

• Breakfast
• Circle Time/Whole Group Instruction
• Outdoor Play
• Music
• Learning Centers
• Small Group Instruction
• Lunch
• Oral Language Development
• Story Time
• Rest Time
• Snack Time

Four times during the school year, parent/child activities will be offered at all elementary schools in the parish.

Activities could include:

• Preparing your child for school
• Positive encouragement
• Literacy/Language Skills
• Book Bingos

REGISTRATION

Registration for the Pre-Kindergarten Program is conducted in the Spring of each year. Parents/Guardians need to provide the child's:

• birth certificate
• social security card
• immunization records
• proof of residency (street address) such as utility bill

To be considered for placement, a child must be 4 years old on or before September 30th. Parents/Guardians should register the child in the district where they live.

The Lafourche Early Childhood Network is comprised of a group of Early Learning Centers, Head Start Centers, and Public School Pre K. We currently have 9 Early Learning Centers, 7 Head Start Sites, and 12 Public Schools in our Network that are serving the Early Childhood Community.
