The Lafourche Parish School Board Retirement Department coordinates all of our employees' retirement concerns with the following state retirement systems: Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana, Louisiana School Employees' Retirement System, and Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System. Wellness Program Guide

New Hires - New full-time eligible employees will receive an enrollment package and a call from a Colonial Enroller a week or so before the effective date to schedule an appointment to meet one-on-one to select benefits for you and your family. This is required (MANDATORY) by IRS laws whether you are electing or waiving coverage. These benefits will be effective the 1st of the month following 30 days of full-time employment.

Open Enrollment - Open enrollment is completed online through Employee Navigator. Communication will be sent through email from the Benefits Department when open enrollment is approaching. This will include the steps to take if the employee needs to make changes to any current insurance elections. IF THERE ARE NO CHANGES TO BE MADE, THEN NO ACTION IS NECESSARY. Employees are NOT required to log into Employee Navigator every year.

Coverage applied for during open enrollment will become effective January 1 of the next year as long as you are an active employee at that time. Coverage that requires evidence of insurability will be effective the 1st of the month following approval by the insurance company.


STERLING WELLNESS - This service is available once a year between August and November. It is offered to all employees and their spouses who are on our BCBS health insurance and retirees and spouses on our BCBS health plan.

To receive the $500 credit toward your deductible for the following calendar year, you must complete BOTH parts of the screening. This includes the online health assessment and the lab work. Only one member covered under the LPSB health insurance is required to do this for everyone under the plan to receive the $500 credit. Please remember it will always say that you have a $3000 deductible. It will show you have met $500 towards the $3000, leaving a remaining deductible of $2500.

QUALIFYING EVENT - It is your responsibility to notify the insurance department of a qualifying event within 30 days of the event, to make changes or to add insurance. Such qualifying events include: birth, marriage, divorce , adoption, loss of health coverage or death.
