For today’s #SundaySpotlight, the Lafourche Schools Spotlight shines brightly on Colette Alleman.
Colette is the secretary for the Career Magnet Center and has been a valued member of the LPSD team for 26 years. She is a 1986 graduate of South Lafourche High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Nicholls State University in 1990.
Colette has been honored as a Lafourche Parish Outstanding School Support Employee an incredible four times! She represented Larose-Cut Off Middle School in 2004-2005 as an itinerant bookkeeper and in 2011-2012 as a school secretary. She represented the Career Magnet Center in 2023-2024 and again this year as the school secretary. Earlier this school year was named the district Support Employee of the Year winner in the high school division and was recently named a state finalist. She will be recognized next month at a BESE meeting and a reception at the Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge, where the state winner will be announced.
“As the school secretary, Mrs. Alleman exemplifies excellence in every facet of her role,” said Jarad Walker, CMC principal. “She is the first face to greet students, parents, and community members each day—always with a warm smile and welcoming spirit that sets the tone for a positive and professional environment. Behind that warmth lies an exceptional work ethic and attention to detail that ensure the seamless operation of our school. From managing attendance, scheduling, and communication to coordinating events and budgets, Mrs. Alleman approaches every task with precision, grace, and a calm efficiency that keeps our campus running smoothly.”
“Mrs. Alleman dedicates countless hours to the success of our school and its programs. Whether assisting with Open House, Apprenticeship Signing Day, or student recognition events, she is always among the first to arrive and the last to leave, ensuring every detail reflects the pride she takes in our school,” Walker added. “Her presence at community and district events enhances our reputation and strengthens partnerships that benefit our students. Mrs. Alleman’s impact extends well beyond her desk. She has earned the respect, admiration, and affection of everyone she encounters. Students seek her encouragement, staff rely on her steady leadership, and community members consistently comment on her warmth and professionalism. She truly embodies the mission and spirit of the Lafourche Parish Career Magnet Center.”
Colette says the opportunity to forge those relationships with students and staff and create a safe, supportive learning environment was the driving force behind her transition from a district bookkeeper to a school secretary.
“What I enjoy most about working with students and colleagues is the relationships we build every day. I love seeing the students come into the office, talking with them, helping them when they need something, and watching them grow over the year,” Colette said. “I'm also grateful to work with such supportive colleagues who feel like family. Being a part of a team that cares so much about our students makes coming to work each day very rewarding.”
Colette’s impact on our district is immeasurable, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her as a dedicated member of our team. Please join us in thanking her for her many years of unwavering service to our students, staff and families and wish her luck as she represents Lafourche Parish at the state level.
