For today’s #SundaySpotlight, the Lafourche Schools Spotlight shines brightly on Steven Thibodeaux.
Steven is the dedicated head custodian at Bayou Blue Elementary School. He is a graduate of Central Lafourche High School and has been with the Lafourche Parish School District for seven years.
“Mr. Steve is our head school custodian. I often say he is the unsung hero of the school, and he always says he has 40-plus work wives that are always asking him to help with something,” said Tina Guidry, BBLES principal, who nominated him for the Spotlight. “He has an enormous responsibility being one of only two custodians that handles five separate buildings with 30-plus classrooms to clean on a daily basis that includes double-digit restrooms used by 480 students and 60 staff members, not to mention the groundskeeping of a campus as large as ours and a giant playground.”
“He literally works from the time he gets to school until his time to leave, constantly being called to one incident or another,” Guidry added. “He never complains. He did a lot of the summer work by himself with waxing and painting as we were in between hiring a second custodian. He is my righthand person, and we couldn't have a school day without him.”
Please join us in thanking Steven for his dedicated service to the Lafourche Parish School District. We are so grateful for his commitment to providing a safe and clean learning environment for the students and staff of Bayou Blue.
