For today’s #SundaySpotlight, the Lafourche Schools Spotlight is on Tamara Doucet.
Tamara is a third-grade math and social living teacher at Golden Meadow Elementary School and has been employed with the Lafourche Parish School District for 11 years.
She is a graduate of South Lafourche High School and Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education (grades 1 – 5) and a minor in instrumental music. She also graduated from the American College of Education with master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and educational leadership.
"’Ms. T’ is one of the most genuine people I've met. I am grateful that she has taught my three boys and continues to inspire young minds through her work as a teacher at Golden Meadow Elementary,” says School Board member BuffyLynn Charpentier, who nominated her for the Spotlight. “She is one of those teachers who is loved by all -- coworkers, parents and especially students! Her prowess in the classroom is paired with such a warm, genuine love for her students, with whom she builds bonds and connections that endure.”
Forging those connections is what Tamara enjoys most about working with the students and staff of GMES.
“Building relationships with students and nurturing friendships with colleagues are definitely my favorite parts of working at a school,” she said. “I love getting to know who my students are, how they think, what their interests are, and so much more.”
With her positive and encouraging attitude and compassion for her students, Tamara creates a learning environment where every child can learn and thrive.
“Ms. Doucet’s enthusiasm and positive demeanor create a welcoming environment that fosters student engagement and makes students feel valued,” says Kelly Adams, GMES principal. “She effectively empowers students to strive for their best. Her encouragement helps build their confidence and resilience, which is essential for their academic and personal growth.”
Please join us in thanking Tamara for her passion and tireless dedication to helping the students of the Lafourche Parish School District reach their full potential.
