The Lafourche Parish School District received major statewide recognition yesterday at BESE’s Academic Goals and Improvement Committee meeting. Of the 70 traditional school districts in Louisiana, LPSD achieved the third-highest growth in math proficiency for students in third through eighth grade on the 2024-2025 LEAP assessment.
Superintendent Jarod Martin accepted the recognition on the district’s behalf from LDOE’s Jamie Hebert, Executive Director of Numeracy, and Dr. Jenna Chiasson, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, and says the district’s outstanding growth is a result of rigorous planning, focused professional development, and a relentless commitment to high-quality instruction in every classroom.
"This remarkable success belongs to our entire community—our students, families, staff, and administrators. But above all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our teachers,” Martin said. “Their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts are the engine of this growth. They show up every single day and change lives, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements."
Congratulations to our students and staff for setting such a high bar! We are committed to building on this momentum.
