For today’s #SundaySpotlight, the Lafourche Schools Spotlight is on Malcolm Rawlings.

Malcolm is a sixth-grade student at Bayou Blue Middle School who was nominated for the spotlight by Charlotte Brunet, his former teacher and Beta sponsor at Bayou Blue Upper Elementary.  Malcolm and his team placed 3rd in the Convention Invention competition at the National Beta Convention in Orlando this summer.

“Academic achievement, character, leadership and service provide a winning Combination,” Brunet said.

Malcolm’s parents, James and Erin Rawlings, describe him as hardworking, adventurous and kind, and they admire his determination and curiosity.

Malcolm has a strong work ethic, a love of learning, and an adventurous spirit that inspires those around him,” Erin shared. “We are proud of the kindness and determination he shows in school, at home, and in our community — and we love that he enjoys traveling to different countries, which has deepened his love of exploring and his curiosity of different cultures. We are proud to call him our son.”

And we’re proud to call him our student!

Please join us in celebrating Malcolm for all he does to positively impact his school, community and the Lafourche Parish School District.
