For today’s #SundaySpotlight, the Lafourche Schools Spotlight is on student Anthony Plaisance.
Anthony is a senior at Central Lafourche High School where he is active in FFA, 4-H, FCCLA, Quiz Bowl and National Honor Society. He also represents his peers as a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council and was recently selected as a delegate to the prestigious United States Senate Youth Program. He is one of only two students chosen to represent Louisiana in Washington D.C and will receive a $10,000 college scholarship for his outstanding leadership and service.
“Anthony is a remarkable young man and a very unique individual for someone his age,” said Douglas Triche, CLHS agriculture teacher and FFA/4-H advisor. “He is extremely passionate about helping to better the lives of everyone and the environment around him. Anthony encourages people to recycle and not waste anything, he advocates for agriculture any chance he can, and just draws the best out of people by being a positive influence on them.”
“Anthony Plaisance is an amazing young man that doesn't ever seem to tire or say no to helping anyone he can and being a positive light in our organizations,” Triche added.
Anthony says his favorite subject in school is agriculture, and his experiences in ag class and FFA have influenced his dream of becoming our nation’s Secretary of the Interior or Secretary of Agriculture.
“The ag classes in our state allow students to immerse themselves in our history and its roots in agriculture,” Anthony shared. “I also love how advocating for such a diverse industry like the ag industry allows for me to express my passion for environmental conservation in a meaningful way.”
Anthony’s teachers agree that his stellar leadership abilities, exceptional work ethic and passion for serving others make him a role model for others whose influence extends beyond his school and community.
“Anthony consistently represents not only Central Lafourche High School in a positive light, but also our school district and state,” said Jade Champagne, CLHS FCCLA advisor. “In his many roles, some which include former state president of FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America) and current state reporter of FFA (Future Farmers of America), Anthony has shown that he is a poised, confident, and professional young man who is not afraid of hard work.”
“He is a natural-born leader who exhibits a drive to do better and be better,” she added. “He does not let a challenge or exclusivity stand in his way. He has proven this by earning countless awards in competitions on the local, state, and national levels of 4-H, FFA and FCCLA, as well as earning his place in programs/councils such as the U.S. Senate Youth Program and the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council.”
Please join us in celebrating Anthony for all he does to positively impact his school, community and the Lafourche Parish School District. His future is bright, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next.
